Vrindavan TechVillage (VTV) has added another ‘first’ to its credentials; it has become the only certified ‘LEED Platinum’ operational Special Economic Zone in India.

Vrindavan TechVillage was created to address the need for an environmentally sensitive premier office environment in Bangalore’s IT corridor. VTV is a 106 acre world class business park focused on global IT and ITES companies in Bangalore. The neighborhood of VTV comprises several MNC’s and other global corporates like JP Morgan Chase, Accenture, Cisco and Intel.

VTV was conceptualised through cross border master-planning design collaboration with Assetz Property Group in Bangalore, HOK Architects Hong Kong, and Ross Bonthorne of Sydney. Sustainability was a key factor in the ‘Design brief’ for the full team and sustainability targets were set at the project conception. The seed of thought for Vrindavan TechVillage was inspired from ‘Vrindavan – The most beautiful forest in India’. Vrindavan holds a central place in Hindu mythology as the place where Lord Krishna spent his childhood. It is believed that Krishna played in the garden of Vrindavan and VTV’s emphasis on landscape is evocative of this heritage.

VTV juxtaposes best international standards with Indian sensibility and verdant aesthetic to bring the connection of past history of Krishna’s Vrindavan with Platinum rated Vrindavan of the 21st Century.

VTV has been evaluated for LEED Green Building Rating System as Pre-Certified Platinum rated by Indian Green Building Council [IGBC] and US Green Building Council [USGBC]. Sustainability consultants from both India and overseas ensured that VTV exceeded all environmental standards for any business park of this scale in India. Some of the LEED highlights of VTV are:

Energy usage is being monitored and energy simulation data shows a reduction in energy
needs by more than 20% on typical building standards.
All water is being treated to tertiary standards and thus 100% potable water usage for
  landscaping is eliminated.
Depth of all floor plates has been kept to a maximum of 22m so as to provide daylight to
95% of all commonly occupied space, thus reducing use of artificial lighting.

Vrindavan TechVillage, India’s only ‘LEED Platinum’ rated business -park is equipped with an Integrated Building Management System (IBMS) which not only enables efficient management of tenant requests but also transfers the energy conservation benefits to the tenants at a micro level.

  Few key initiatives are:
The IBMS allows each tenant to measure their use of energy through meters provided
  individually.
Provision of environmentally sustainable cleaning materials form a part of VTV’s Building
  Maintenance Contract.
Recyclable garbage is sorted and collection areas accessible to each tenant have been
  provided.
Occupier tree planting reinforces the ethos and ownership of sustainability for VTV.
